We know we’ve been rather quiet this past year on our social channels, and the beginning of spring seems like a fitting time to give an update on the state of things. First and foremost, the Birdbones family is doing relatively well, all things considered. We’ve been extremely fortunate that our lives haven’t been too dramatically upended as far as the ongoing pandemic is concerned, and we recognize how lucky we’ve been in that regard. Thank you to everyone who’s reached out to us to make sure we’re doing okay; it’s been sincerely appreciated.
In early 2020, we’d planned to officially launch Birdbones after a soft launch back in 2019. We’d done a number of shows in the Houston area and were looking forward to growing our small business even more in 2020. Instead, like for most everyone else, 2020 became a miserable year of stress and worry and just trying to adapt to a rapidly changing situation. Even without the challenges that came with the pandemic, 2020 was just a hard year for the team for a number of personal reasons.
Because of everything we were dealing with at the time (and are largely still dealing with now), we decided to take 2020 off to better cope with and handle some of these things. The situation hasn’t completely changed since then, but, with over a year of adjusting under our belt, and at nearly three months into 2021, it’s been easier to try to adapt to what has slowly become our new normal.
Maybe it’s just been this beautiful spring weather of late, but now feels as good a time as any to try to pick things up where we left off. We don’t plan to continue doing shows for the better part of this year, but we do plan to try to be better about updating our social channels and staying in touch more consistently. Birdbones also moved in the past year, and, while it was another difficult thing to try to manage mid-pandemic (and in July in Houston), it gave us the opportunity to expand into a larger space. One of the benefits of that larger space has been gaining a dedicated studio room to work in; that, in turn, will continue to help us grow Birdbones and the art we make for these channels. We also have a project that we’ve been working on (the one that features our starboi, Endy) that we’re looking forward to sharing even more of in the coming months.
Thank you to everyone who’s stuck around with us so far, even with the quiet. We’re excited to continue working on Birdbones this year and hopefully make up for some of the radio silence. We hope everyone is doing as well as can be and is continuing to stay safe and be decent to one another. Here’s hoping you all have a serene, rejuvenating, and successful spring season in spite of these difficult times, and we look forward to what we hope may be brighter and kinder times ahead for everyone.
With much love,
The Birdbones team 🖤
